Regional Network of the Children and Young People Trust is a Youth Led Organisation operating in Zimbabwe. The mission of the organisation is to inspire children and young people to have a voice, space and capacity to meaningfully and effectively participate in policy developmental and national and local governance processes. Our vision is to see societies that respects and fulfils all rights of children and young people including sexual reproductive health rights. We work for children and young people and we believe participation of children and young people developmental processes is on its own a means to the end. RNCYPT works with community based Child and Youth Led Group. We are a member of the African Movement of Working Children and Youths, Girls Not Brides and Global Partnership to end violence against children.
Job brief
We are looking for an experienced Executive Director to oversee all operations, functions and activities. The Executive Director will be the face of the organization, responsible for giving the proper strategic direction and implementing a high-quality vision.
An excellent executive director will be an influential manager with ability to lead and motivate. He/she should have great communication skills and take a holistic approach in managing the organization’s operations.
The goal is to manage and lead the organization towards the realization of its mission.
Responsibilities
• Develop and implement strategies aiming to promote the organization’s mission and “voice”
• Develop strategic plans for the attainment of goals and objectives set by the board of directors
• Build an effective team of leaders by providing guidance and coaching to staff and volunteers
• Ensure adherence of the organization’s daily activities and long-term plans to established policies and legal guidelines
• Direct and oversee investments and fundraising efforts
• Forge and maintain relations of trust with partners, members, beneficiaries and external authorities
• Act as the public speaker and public relations representative of the organisation in ways that strengthen its profile
• Engage donors to create long term partnerships and increase resources of the organisation
• Devise remedial actions for any identified issues and conduct crisis management when necessary
Requirements
• Proven experience in working with children and young people with a strong interest in girls and young women’s issues
• Ability to apply successful fundraising and networking techniques
• An analytical mind capable for “out-of-the-box” thinking to solve problems
• Outstanding organization and leadership abilities
• Excellent communication (oral and written) and public speaking skills
• Have knowledge and skills about policy development issues, budgeting processes, local and national governance processes, women’s rights, Child and youth participation, child rights, advocacy and lobbying, girls and young women empowerment.
• Be a young person below the age of 28 years
